Carbohydrate Chemistry

Chemistry in which protecting-group strategy decides the outcome, and experience is the only real shortcut.

The platform

Custom synthesis of oligosaccharides and glycoconjugates, including complex oligosaccharides, glycolipids and glycopeptides, together with solutions for problematic glycosylation steps.

Production scales run from milligrams to hundreds of grams.

Why glycosylation is the step that stalls

A glycosylation that gives the wrong anomer, or gives a mixture, usually cannot be fixed by changing the reagent. It is fixed by changing the protecting-group strategy several steps earlier, which is a judgement call that comes from having made the class before.
