Where hot melt extrusion fits
Hot melt extrusion prepares amorphous solid dispersions, which enhance the bioavailability of poorly soluble compounds. It is used for thermally stable compounds, for high drug loading, and where residual solvent must be avoided.
The technology is recognized for its flexibility, scalability, consistent quality and process efficiency, and is applied to amorphous solid dispersions, sustained-release formulations, targeted drug delivery systems and oral films.
It is available at Wuxi City alongside the other enabling technologies, so a molecule can be screened against both hot melt extrusion and spray-dried dispersion before either is committed.
