Catalysis Screening
Screening your way out of a reaction that will not go.
When the reaction will not go
Every discovery team meets the same wall. A step works on the model system and fails on the real substrate, and the options are to screen conditions, change the route, or drop the compound. With one or two chemists and a fume hood, screening properly is not realistic, so the compound gets dropped, and the SAR is left with a gap exactly where the interesting molecules were.
We have processed challenging structures, removed synthesis roadblocks and raised yield and process efficiency on reactions that arrived here already failed.

Cross-coupling
Experience across Buchwald, Suzuki, Heck, Negishi, Ullmann and Sonogashira chemistry, screened from the standing catalyst-ligand collection rather than assembled per project.
What can be screened
- Catalyst and ligand screening
- Base, acid and solvent screening
- Hydrogenation screening, including asymmetric hydrogenation and heterogeneous hydrogenation catalysts
- Chiral resolution method development
- Salt formation purification method development
- Recrystallization method development
Customized catalysis services cover customized screening templates, catalyst and ligand synthesis, and focused library synthesis and screening.
How the screen runs
Flexible 24- to 96-well matrices, with minimal starting material which matters when the substrate took eight steps to make.
Catalyst kit sample preparation is automated on a liquid handler, with a built-in automated micro liquid work-up station preparing LCMS samples, and fast LCMS data analysis behind it. A full kit screen is a matter of days.
Knowing which reaction to reach for
Photochemistry, electrochemistry, late-stage functionalization and catalysis screening are not exotic any more. Still rare is knowing, on a given substrate, which of them will work, and having run enough of them to answer without a three-month feasibility study.
